This week Israel celebrates the modern holidays of Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) and Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) - as “holy” in Israel as the biblical holy days of Yom Kippur and Pesach. 

There are many opportunities to join online events for Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut. Very special for us is the opportunity to celebrate with our partners in Israel.

Yom HaAtzmaut

On Wednesday, April 29th at 2pm EST, join IMPJ, ARZA Canada, URJ, ARZA and WUPJ for an online celebration of Israel at 72! The program will feature Former US Ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, Israel Consul General in New York, Danny Dayan, leaders of the Israel Reform Movement, and include Rabbis and lay leaders of Reform and Progressive Judaism worldwide. At the end of the program participate in a joyous Independence Day song session with musicians of the Israel Reform Movement.

Yom HaZikaron

Also, make sure to join URJ and ARZA on Tuesday, April 28th at 7pm EST to commemorate Israel’s day of mourning for its fallen and celebrate Israel’s Independence Day. Join Reform Jews across the world to reflect, sing, pray and observe the transition between sadness and joy as we move from Yom HaZikaron to Yom HaAtzmaut.
